Austrian Open Air Museum Stübing - Saturday 16th May
Austrian Open Air Museum Stübing - Saturday 16th May
This trip will lead us to the open- air museum Stübing. Being awarded the Museum Quality Seal of the International Council of Museums of the UNESCO, Stübing is considered among the primary cultural and touristic highlights of our country.
Reuniting on 60 hectare nearly 100 original, historically significant farmsteads and agricultural buildings from all parts of Austria, the open-air museum will give you a deeper insight in traditional techniques of handycrafts and the specific farmerlife and building culture of Austrias provinces, which could be found countryside hundreds of years ago. There we will have a guided tour, which takes about two hours.

- Meeting point - how to get there:
We will go there by bike, along the Mur, using the Murradweg (a bike path that leads through various amazing landscapes of Styria while heading to Salzburg). Our trip will take us about one hour and is easy to manage even for people who are not so much use to bike.
- Meeting point 9:30am in front of the main building of the KF university.
If you are too lazy for cycling :), you can also go by car or by train on your own, and meet us by the entrance of the Freilichmuseum Stübing. We suggest the train S1 from Graz-Hbf, direction Bruck/Mur, at 10:04am.
- For people who come by train or by car, meeting point is 11:00am at the entrance of the museum.
From the train station “Stübing” it is a 25-minutes walk (2,5 km) on a safe walking/cycling-lane to the museum. Turn left in front of the station, you pass “Gasthof Binder”, across the zebra and a bridge and then left through the tunnel. Then follow the signs to the “Freilichtmuseum”.
- How to register: At the KF-office hours (Please tell us if you are coming with us by bike or if you are taking the train. Please tell us also in with language you prefer to have the guided tour).
- Costs: 5 € (without ESN Card 8€) for entrance and guided tour.
- What to bring: Some food and drinks for the picnic (and of course some drink for the journey), bike helmet if possible and some money.
We are looking to see you there!
